EnglishBitcoin is currently in a bull run. How many BTC are locked in exchanges that can't be accessed from the users? Like for e.g Cryptopia, Quadriga, MTGOX

Looking for accurate information on the following: Estimated total amount of Bitcoins that are inaccessible from users and on which exchanges? Some notable ones that I know [quadriga, cryptopia, MTGOX] Please provide me with the numbers and additional exchanges that I am missing. Thank you

It is estimated that around 3-4 million Bitcoins are lost forever. Not only in exchanges hacks, but many of them from early users who didn't stored them properly.
- Mt. Gox exchange - Around 850,000 BTC was stolen, with 750,000 of them belonging to customers.
- Cryptopia - A combined $215 million in assets including BTC. It isn't widely known how much of them were in Bitcoin.
- Gatecoin - The Hong Kong based exchange was hacked for 250 BTC & 185,000 ETH worth around 2 million dollars in May 2016.
- MintPal - In July 2014 the company was reporting missing funds left of 3,700 BTC.
- Bitfloor - On September 3 OF 2012, 24,000 BTC were hacked, valued at approximately 250,000 dollars when the theft took place.
- BitMarket.eu - Nearly 20,000 BTC of its customer's funds were lost.
- Bitstamp - An anonymous hacker 19,000 bitcoins, and therefore the exchange suspended operations.
- Bitfinex - This was the second largest Bitcoin hack ever made after Mt.Gox. Around 120,000 BTC were hacked.

Quite a big number that can't be moved or sold.
There is also OKEX with another 200.000 BTC.

If you have any other exchange feel free to give extra info with a new reply.

The reward is yours.
